Crystal Lakes Golf Course
About
Crystal Lakes is a municipal golf course located next to Dillon Park in Sumter. The course originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1989 but expanded due to popularity. It offers plenty of challenges but it is a course that will reward good course management and strategy but it is not overly punishing if you're errant off the tees. The course quickly introduces you to its challenges with water hazards coming into play on the first five holes. The opening hole is a tricky par 3 that has a unique peninsula green. The rest of the par 3s on this course are no easy feat either. Crystal Lakes may not be the area's most challenging but it is one of the best values in a destination that is known for its golf.

Good course,friendly staff
I thoroughly enjoyed golfing on this course. The greens were in excellent shape. There were some challenging holes---especially holes 12 and 18. The clubhouse staff were super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this course to all golfers.
Course has some challenging holes
Pros: fair price, challenging holes, location
Cons: condition of greens & fairways
GREAT TEE OFF
I ENJOYED THE COURSE. WILL GO BACK AS SOON AS I CAN.
This course is fun to play.
I recommend this course for a couple of reasons. It is well maintained and is challenging, especially on the back nine.
Challenging back 9
The course layout, especially the back 9, is as good as some of the best courses I have played. For the price I should not complain about the poor condition of the fairways and many of the greens. Still enjoyed the round.
Beautiful course
This was a very scenic course, with lots of little lakes. This course requires'" course management skills". There are some great risk reward shots and ladies there are several par fours that are close to being drivable. We really enjoyed playing at Crystal Lakes and if it were not for the traveling distance we would play it again. I highly recommend it. The only downside was the greenside bunkers did not have sand in them..which required using a chipper to get out of them
Great Municipal Course
I am new to golf, and this was a fun course. Some of the tee boxes were concrete like, but the greens were not bad. Some clumps of grass on the fairways, but it still was not extremely bad. I will be playing there again next time I am in the area.
Cow pasture golf
Fairways needed mowed, areas that were mowed had clumps of clippings on greens. Geese and geese droppings everywhere.
love the course
love playing this course, nice shape and good price, has a few challenging holes to it
Staff was very friendly. Course was in great condition.
We had played this course about a year ago and although it was in good shape then, it seems to be in even better shape now. Raymond and Fred (staff) were super nice and helpful.
The course is challenging but not too difficult for a hacker like me.
Under construction
Back nine was being rehabbed. Front nine was in fair condition for a municipal course, and green fee was reasonably priced. Course layout was not difficult, and if not under construction might recommend course to a friend.
